THE MORNING AFTER A BAD NIGHT

Change the day before
you change the dose.

You do not have to solve sleep at six in the morning. You need a plan for the next few hours.

01

Make the journey safe.

Sleepy? Do not drive. Arrange a lift, other transport, a delay or a different way to work. If sleepiness begins on the road, stop somewhere safe.

02

Shrink the task that matters.

Defer it, hand it over, simplify it or arrange a check. Confirm who does what. A check does not make hazardous work safe while you are sleepy.

03

Use an aid with a boundary.

If appropriate for you, use your usual coffee at your usual time. A planned rest or nap needs cover and time to come round afterwards.

04

Keep the rest ordinary.

Normal meals, fluids that fit your needs and manageable demands. You do not need a recovery product or a punishing workout.

05

Protect the next night.

Set a finishing time, decide what waits and name who handles anything urgent. Leave enough room for sleep rather than trying to calculate an exact debt.

Make tomorrow’s fallback today.

Write a transport alternative and one work adjustment while you have a clear head. Put the card where you will see it. If mornings are rough most days, use the Get Help Card and seek assessment.
